I am thrilled to be one of the 2007/2008 Ambassadorial Scholars in District 5870 and sponsored by the Austin-
Oak Hill Rotary Club. I will be working to earn my masters in Justice and Transformation at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. I am honored to represent The Rotary Foundation and will strive to make a significant difference in the lives of South Africans during her year in South Africa as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar.
Rotary International has made its commitment to South Africa
evident. Rotarians train South African school teachers, organize
vocational training, and support mobile TB and AIDS clinics.
Rotary International has also refurbished close to 80,000 wheelchairs for disabled South African youth.
I look forward to participating in the humanitarian work done by Rotary International in South Africa such as the Meals on Wheels, programs for out-patients of children’s hospitals, programs aimed at reducing unemployment in South Africa, and “Literacy for All.” I want to contribute Rotary’s reputation for making a difference in Africa and continuing my involvement with Rotary following my return.
